Türkiye – Saudi Arabia Construction Forum and workshop commenced in Istanbul
The Türkiye – Saudi Arabia Construction Forum and workshop commenced by 3th July 2024 in Istanbul, organised by the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) and the Turkish Contractors Association (TCA).
The forum aims to connect construction firms from both nations and establish partnerships for significant development projects. Attendees included Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, SCA board chairman Eng. Zakria Al-Abdulqadir, Turkish Contractors Association president Erdal Eren, and representatives from Saudi and Turkish companies.
The forum is part of the official visit of the Saudi minister to Türkiye, aiming to strengthen cooperation in real-estate development, road infrastructure, waste management, and recycling. It also seeks to attract leading Turkish companies to enter the Saudi market. During the event, the Saudi minister met with representatives from both countries’ contracting companies to explore investment opportunities and partnerships in municipal and housing sectors.
Minister Al-Hogail highlighted the importance of private-sector involvement in Saudi Arabia’s development. He stressed that collaborative work in environmental, road, sanitation, and waste-management fields is crucial for enhancing city services and residents’ quality of life. “The forum aims to create investment opportunities and effective alliances between companies in the two countries,” he said.
Al-Hogail emphasised that Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to elevate economic and social aspects. The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing is working towards various development goals. He pointed out that the construction sector in Saudi Arabia is growing significantly. The Kingdom is keen to expand its partnerships and benefit from international expertise.
The minister expressed optimism about the forum’s outcomes and its potential to boost trade between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. He noted that it aims to create investment opportunities and effective alliances by utilising global best practices to improve Saudi cities’ urban landscape. “The forum aims to harness efforts and resources to improve the quality of life in Saudi cities,” Al-Hogail added.
Investment Opportunities
Saudi Arabia welcomes contracting and real-estate development companies from Türkiye interested in investing in various sectors such as construction, roads, and waste management in Saudi cities. The forum provides a platform for these companies to explore potential collaborations with their Saudi counterparts.
During his speech at the forum’s inauguration, Al-Hogail emphasised the significance of preparing prosperous cities by benefiting from successful experiences globally. He stated that applying best global practices would have a tangible impact on improving urban landscapes in Saudi cities.
The event also focused on developing regulations and legislation along with work mechanisms to contribute to the quality of services provided in the Kingdom for citizens, residents, and visitors. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030’s objectives of enhancing economic growth through strategic partnerships.
The Türkiye-Saudi Arabia Construction Forum marks a significant step towards fostering stronger ties between the two nations. By leveraging each other’s strengths in construction and infrastructure development, both countries aim to achieve mutual growth and prosperity.
Turkish Contractors Association (TCA)
The Turkish Contractors Association (TCA) is an independent, non-profit professional organization based in Ankara-TURKEY. The association was founded in 1952 and represents the leading construction companies in Turkey. The business volume of its members encompasses nearly 70% of all domestic and 90% of all international contracting work done so far by Turkish construction companies.
From the beginning of the 1970’s up to the end of 2023, Turkish contractors have completed more than 12.122 projects in 135 countries. Their business volume abroad has reached 503 billion US Dollars.
In addition to offering contracting services at international standards both within and outside Turkey, nearly 75% of TCA members are also active in various fields of construction industry investments, manufacturing, engineering and consulting.
